Who Did you Meet Today?

It's not what you know, it's who you know.

In some ways that phrase is true, but just because you know a person it doesn't mean that they find you interesting.

When you meet a new person, make sure that you give them time to talk. Once they are done, bring out a real GEM to impress them and grab their attention.

'Scuba diving? Man, I have to tell you about the time this hammerhead shark came circling round the cage when I was on holiday...'

Don't forget that networking meetings aren't just about selling your services, it's about chatting and getting to know that group of people. You never know how useful your friends will become in the near future. If you can look at your contacts list and see it much like a Yellow Pages, then you know you have succeeded it being a great networker.
